Taylor Swift won’t back down

My daughter turned me into a knows-the lyrics-feels-the-feels kind of fan. But beyond Swift’s narcotically good songs is this: she has insisted on owning her own voice and its value, even when other people try to take away her power. That inspired me. So I wrote a piece about it for Newsweek called “How Taylor Swift Became the Loudest Woman We’ve Ever Seen.”
Republik Magazine Interview

Who really talks most?

David Bonderman has some company. Well, he has even more company. Yoshiro Mori, president of the Tokyo 2020 organizing committee says women talk more than men. Well, according to American Political Science Review, women talk far less than men in deliberative discussions when men outnumber them. Women spoke less than 75 percent of the time and faced more frequent hostile interruptions in the APSR study. Less talking for women translates to less influence, an equation women know all too well.
Last woman standing

My piece about Elizabeth Warren stepping down from the presidential race for The Washington Post.
Outspoken in Books on Draft blog

I was beyond delighted to come across my book reviewed on the very swank blog Books on Draft. It pairs good reads with craft beers, two of the author’s deepest passions. I’m honored to be included in this gorgeous, thoughtful blog.
Recent op-ed: Women in politics

Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Amy Klobuchar brought their ideas, power, and voices to the presidential race. I wrote a piece about it in The Washington Post.
